About

Wei Ting Tseng is a Taiwanese cellist, improviser, and composer based in Oslo. Her artistic practice is centered on the interplay between controlled randomness, intuition, and the influence of space and acoustics on music. She expanded on these themes during her Master's in Music Performance at The Norwegian Academy of Music.
Deeply influenced by personal and collective histories, Wei Ting reflects on how sound relates to emotional experiences, drawing from the acoustics of her childhood home. The dynamics of being heard or ignored, and how these experiences shape personal identity, have become central themes in her work.
Her recent projects include A Posture of Attendance, a site-specific composition that engages acoustically resonant locations, and As Silent As Bombs, a data-driven composition addressing themes of military violations and sonic fear. Wei Ting's collaborations span various disciplines, including architecture and visual arts, reflecting her interest in how sound interacts with space, memory, and identity.
Wei Ting’s works have been performed at venues and events such as The National Museum, Ultima Festival, Only Connect Festival, and Tegnetriennalen. Currently, she is expanding her practice to collaborated ensembles and an upcoming exhibition at UKS with visual artist Jacky Jaan-Yuan Kuo, investigating the spatial politics of domestic spaces.
